Pregnancy Care
The Maternity and Infant Care Scheme provides care for all expectant mothers living in Ireland. It is provided through your GP and the Hospital Services. You can sign up for the scheme and still choose to be seen in the hospital as a public, private or mid wife led care patient.
At your initial visit we will ask you to sign a form to sign you up to the Maternity and Infant Care Scheme. We will also provide you with a referral to your chosen obstetrics service.
Public and Mid wife led services in University Hospital Kerry are generally free of charge but there will be fees and charges for private care. It is important to research which care may suit you best. Private Care options are provided through University Hospital Kerry and the Scotia Clinic.
Your GP care for the visits outlined below are free of charge. Depending on whether there are medical issues during your pregnancy there may be a number of extra visits also covered by the scheme. However, non-pregnancy related health issues are not covered by the scheme.
